U-17's fall at the final hurdle
2 August 2008
They tried hard, but in the end Santos FC's Under-17 team just couldn't sustain the momentum and lost 1-0 to Ajax Cape Town in the final of the Engen Knockout Challenge at the Stephen Reagan Sports Complex in Westridge, Mitchell's Plain.

It was, however, a brave effort from the young side, many of them who will still be eligible to play Under-17 next season.
"We struggled initially, but picked up very well," said Santos coach Ayyoob Gester.
"We made nice progress, though I think our decision-making in the final let us down.
"It was unfortunate that we had to lose... but there has to be a winner. So congratulations to Ajax."
Gester was named as the Coach of the Tournament, while Santos FC central defender Faeez Khan was the Defender of the Tournament.
