Life Skills Program leads to extreme positivity

08 October 2008

The Santos PSL team attended their first life skills program today. According to some of the Players, Coaches and Team Manager, the program was very informative and should have been presented to the team a long time ago. Just as it is important for the youth to develop educationally, it is of great importance that the PSL team to grows and learn even more. As the famous saying goes; one is never too old to learn…

The program was presented by Ricardo Siljeur of The Sports Science Institute,
who had the following to say:

The role of the program is to provide the players with information and to assist them to better their professional, social and financial aspects, in order to prolong their football careers or to further their careers. We want to assist them in different life areas and empower them with knowledge, which they can use in their professional football career.

The players reacted very positive. Some felt that they should have had these programs 10 years prior to their football careers. This will help them to learn how to set goals, how long they should keep on playing and what to do once they have retired from football.

The final outcome of the program is to give the players some advice as to how to become a professional person,
on as well as off the field.
