On Saturday, 25th October 2008, the U/17’s participated in the Coke Cup 3rd/4th play offs and ended the season on a high note, by beating Rygersdal convincingly, 2-0. The goals were scored by Riaan Eugene and Wade Crowie, which enabled the Santos U/17 team to end up in 3rd place.
Santos Ladies, under Coach Clive Daries and Manager, Shehnaaz Alexander are busy preparing the team for the Vodacom League and started on a high note, by winning the Coke Cup on that same day.
They beat UWC Ladies on penalties 4-1. The ladies had numerous opportunities within the game, but they could just not take their chances. This is definitely something for the coaches to work on and develop.
The Santos U/15 Team also played a friendly against a U/16 Team from the UK. The match ended up in a 2 all draw. This initiative is a nice way of forging links between Santos FC and the UK team.
The season was successfully ended off by Santos FC, who hosted a Junior Awards presentation last Wednesday, at Athlone Stadium. I am very proud of all the teams; you did a great job during the season.
Coach Keith America’s U/13 Team was still involved in an exhibition game in Langebaan, Velddrif over this past weekend. They took on a school’s invitation team, which formed part of a soccer development celebration in the area.
