The Amakhosi clash is one of the highlights on the local soccer calendar and a huge crowd is expected at Athlone (please note that only pre-sold tickets are available, tickets cannot be bought at the stadium on match day).
The People's Team have struggled to find their rhythm this season, but the team has been building momentum in recent weeks, which has seen the team record back to back wins over Thanda with Mamelodi Sundowns.
The feeling amongst the players is now one of renewed confidence and there is no reason why another maximum points haul cannot be obtained against Amakhosi.
Chiefs however, have also bounced back from their Soweto derby defeat to Orlando Pirates with two straight wins - a 4-1 thumping of Bidvest Wits and a 1-0 victory over log-leaders Golden Arrows.
Prior to the loss 2-0 against Pirates, Amakhosi also accounted for Celtic, SuperSport United and AmaZulu, and under former Santos coach Muhsin Ertugral, are clearly a team in form.
But this should not stop the People's Team from feeling positive ahead of the game, especially as they will be at home and it is not secret that Gauteng sides loath playing in the Mother City.
Team manager Yusuf Gester confirms spirits are high ahead of this important clash.
"The mood in the camp is very high after beating Thanda Royal Zulu at Hammersdale. The big plus was the fact that Musa Otieno pulled through that game, with an outstanding performance, recovering from his back injury.
“We are looking forward to an exciting match against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday and I’m sure that the players will be very motivated for that game. Currently we have no suspensions and expect to have a fully squad fit for the match."
