Bright ready for battle

7 April 2009

Santos coach Major David Bright is hoping to lead his troops to victory over Ajax Cape Town at the Newlands Stadium tonight.

”This is going to be an exciting game and I expect there to be a lot of supporters from the Western Cape to attend tonight’s match at Newlands.

”This is a game of two teams fighting for one location. Its all up to the players – this match belongs to the Cape Town boys. With the pride at stake, each player will be fighting for the team,” said Bright.

Both clubs are battling for a top eight finish – Bright says that the points on offer tonight are crucial.

”It’s a 50-50 game in that it could go either way, but we are prepared and want the three points – a win could see us jumping three or four places on the log,” he said.

Santos go into this game without the suspended trio of Musa Otieno, Mogogi Gabonamong and Tyren Arendse.

Bright says that he will pair Wayne Arendse with skipper Craig Bianchi in the centre of defence.

He also mentioned that striker Eleazar Rodgers was benched against AmaZulu with the Cape derby in mind and is expected to start against Ajax Cape Town tonight.

And according to team manager Yusuf Gester, there is an outside chance that Graham King may be available, although he stressed the speedy winger would not be rushed back into action unnecessarily

”Graham King had a stretch test and we are happy with the results. We are hopeful that he may still be available for this game, but at the same time we will not risk him.

”I also urge the fans to buy their tickets early for the game.”
