Ajax had the first chance of the game when Sameehg Doutie steered the ball across goal in the second minute.

It was Santos though who drew first blood, scoring in the fourth minute when Erwin Isaacs dragged his shot across the face of goal, which allowed Ryan Chapman (pictured above) to blast the ball home at the back post.

Ajax managed to pose a few threats down the wings, but in general it was Santos who looked sharper and displayed more hungery, especially in the midfield.

But in general the game remained evenly balanced as both teams put in maximum effort.

Just before the break the Urban Warriors spurned a good opportunity to level the score-line when Granwald Scott fired over the bar from close range after a Doutie cross into the box.

Ajax started the second half well, but it was only in the 58th minute when they finally threatened the Santos goal, thanks to Scott’s powerful shot from an angle, which Francis Chansa pushed to safety.

Scott continued is his quest to level the game, but was again denied by Chansa, who pulled off an excellent save to deny the Ajax striker.

Cale, allowed a free header in the box, missed a sitter when he failed to find the net from eight yards out.

Scott soon followed suite, making a complete hash of Cale’s 71 st minute cross.

It appeared as if Santos’ resilience at the back was going to earn them victory, but in the 82nd minute Sifiso Vilakazi beat Chansa to the ball and header it into the back of the net.

The final drama unfolded in the last minute of the game when Cale burst down the left before lobbing the ball across the goal, where it took a deflection off Craig Bianchi, which left Chansa flat-footed as the ball bounced into the net.
