TSHEPO TOPS FOR AUGUST 2009

Goal keeper Tshepo Motsoeneng has been named as Santos FC's Player of the Month for August.

After the Santos technical staff showed their confidence in Motsoeneng by giving him the 'number one' jersey, the 30-year-old goal minder has taken the opportunity with both hands, so to speak.

Motsoeneng has been rewarded for his consistent performances throughout the month - in the match against Sundowns in particular, he made a series of fine saves to preserve Santos' lead and ensure the three points fro the Cape side.

The star performer, who is now looking to continue his form when Santos take on Moroka Swallows in Dobsonville on Sunday, remained humble in the midst of praise, saying he is happy to just to be playing on a regular basis

"I feel a bit surprised about the award and did not expect it at all, since there were other guys that really played well. I have been out for some time now and have to do what it takes to deliver.

"To be part of the People's Team was the best move - it is the first time in my soccer career that I have been given consistent game time", said Motsoeneng.
