SANTOS BACK IN STELLENBOSCH ON SATURDAY

25 September 2009

The Coetzenburg Stadium in Stellenbosch will play host to Santos’ PSL fixture against Platinum Stars this weekend.

The Peoples’ Team come into this match on the back of a 1-1 draw against Golden Arrows in Durban, a result with which coach Boebie Solomons was satisfied with.

Solomons was in particular pleased about the way in which his side fought back to clinch a point after having conceded a goal early in the second half.

“The signs are good as we go into the Stars match as we finished the Arrows game on a positive note, attacking a lot.

“I think that is a good sign – I hope we can continue with this winning mentality.

“I feel we showed good character to keep fighting after we conceded –I liked that a lot,” said the Santos mentor.

The Cape side go into this game nicely positioned in sixth spot on the PSL table, while Stars are further back in 13 th spot.

However, under coach Steve Komphela, the team from the North West are likely to provide formidable opposition and will be looking to hit back after their loss to Pirates on Wednesday.

Their main threats are likely to be from midfielders Edward Williams and Tsepo Ramokala, as well as strikers such as Norikazu Murakami and Brad Grobler.

Cape-born marksman Alton Meiring will also be looking to make an impression should he be given game time.

For Santos, the squad has a clean bill of health for this game.
