UPDATE AHEAD OF WITS ENCOUNTER
2 November 2009
Santos team manager Yusuf Gester keeps us updated with team news ahead of Wednesday night's crucial Absa Premiership clash with Wits in Stellenbosch.
The Peoples' Team go into the match against the Clever Boys in a lofty second position on the Absa Premiership table, just three points behind SuperSport United, who beat Wits on Sunday.
Santos' recent trips up to Pretoria and Durban proved successful as they picked up four points against Super Sport United (a 2-2 draw) and AmaZulu (a 2-0 win).
Gester is looking forward to more positive results, especially as the team is now back at home.
"After two tough encounters on the road against Supersport United and Amazulu recently, it's good to be back home to face Bidvest Wits in our upcoming clash on Wednesday 4 November, at Coetzenburg Stadium.
"I would like to commend the Technical team and especially the players, for their hard work and fighting spirit, shown in the latter games.
"The upcoming game against Wits will be no different as both teams would want to get something out of this game.
“For the People's team, a home win is what is expected from all in the Mother City and all around the club, but the Students would not want to return empty handed," warns Gester.
There is also some further good news as two players return from suspension:
"I would like to welcome the return of defenders Thabiso Ntloana and Ricardo Skippers, whom was both suspended for our last game (yellow cards) and are available for selection. There are no serious injury concerns at this stage.
