Crowie makes Heideveld proud

21 January 2009

Santos FC fan Bridgette from Heideveld has some fond memories of Duncan Crowie, now Head of Youth Development, in his early days…

Today I am sitting in my office and I am very proud of how love for soccer brought you where you are today.

As a child growing up in Heideveld I saw you passing our house to go to the soccer field to go practice or to play that time you where attending Cathkin High with my sister as I can recall that was also a very difficult time, those days, because of the apartheid era.

As I saw on the internet how you have taken Santos back to Heideveld I can really say you make the people of Heideveld very proud as I can recall our parents, brothers and sisters even our neighbors in Heideveld use to come together on the soccer field that time with their children playing netball and soccer.

We as children then had to help by putting up the poles and drawing the lines on the  field thinking of all the good times and the struggle that time you really make everybody proud. To think that people came and people go, but your love for soccer still stands.

I want you to keep up the good work and wish you all the best in what you are doing.

Bridgette
