Crowie’s Corner
3 March 2010
2010 started really brightly for our youth department. Our pre-season training is in full swing with the new season getting closer and already we have a few friendly games under our belts.
The only official games that were played thus far were our Super League team (U\17 & U\19). The Super League team went on to win promotion to the Castle league.
What makes the teams performance even better is the fact that the team consisted of Under 17 and Under 19 players (the Super League is a senior competition). Most of these players will compete in the Metropolitan Cup (Bayhill tournament).
The following coaches will be in-charge of the Engen Santos teams:
Under 7- Naiem Abrahams, L Msizi, Ms M Koyana
Under 9- Reagan Ludick, J Nkalitshana, Ms N. Ludidi
Under 11- David Notoane (Academy) and Trevor Kramer, N Mangisa, M Stuurman
Under 13-Ayyoob Gester (Academy) and Frans Geduldt, Yoeried Bassier, T Stokwana, and T Peppeta
Under 15- Keith America (Academy) and Sanele Nohe, J T Msengana, T Zimemo
Under 17- Duncan Crowie (Academy) and Gasant Salie and Raymond Bergman
Under 19- Gordon Witbooi (Academy)
Premier League team-John Du Bruyn
The league competition for the above mentioned teams will start in mid April, but before that a number of our teams will be involved in tournaments.
Our teams will compete in the following tournaments:
Under 11- Kensington TNT-18th to 21st March
Under 13- Strandfontein TNT-27th and 28th March
Under 15-Kensington TNT-18th to 21st March and Chezmont TNT-26th to 28th March
Under 17-Cape Fish TNT Date to be confirmed and Engen TNT in October
Under 19-Robinvale TNT 6th March and Metropolitan Cup 1st April to 5th April
I am looking forward to an exciting season ahead and I hope the World Cup here on home soil will inspire both the coaches and players to greater heights and turn this year into a special one for everybody at the club.
