Solomons happy to tackle Cosmos

Jomo Cosmos stand between the Peoples’ Team and a place in the Nedbank Cup last 16 when the two sides clash in Wellington on Saturday afternoon.

The Gauteng side, relegated from the PSL, will certainly provide stiff competition to Santos.

But despite having lost and drawn to Cosmos in the two league matches this season, Santos coach Boebie Solomons is optimistic that his team can advance to the last 16.

“I’m happy we haven’t done well against Cosmos this season – this means that we will have extra motivation to beat them.

“If we were playing a team who we had beaten twice this season, then complacency could have been a problem. If we were too relaxed that could have been a danger, but now we will be on our toes.

“We will be looking to focus on our own game while also neutralising their strengths,” said Solomons.

Santos only have midfielder Boitumelo Mafoko missing, other than that they have a full strength squad available.

The match takes place at the Boland Rugby Stadium and kick off is 3pm on Saturday.
