RED CROSS GOLF DAY 2006

2004 saw members of Engen Petroleum and Santos Football Club visit the Red Cross Children's Hospital Burns Unit where they witnessed the plight of burn accident children. As one of the key suppliers of paraffin to the communities across South Africa, Engen realized its responsibility to supporting burn accident prevention and together with Santos FC, has committed to aiding the Red Cross Children's Hospital Burns Unit through the Engen Santos "Goals for Charity Campaign." Over the course of the season, funds for the campaign were raised through goals and spectacular saves made by the Santos players, where R2, 000 was added to the barometer per goal or save.

During the 2005/6 PSL season the Engen Santos players showed their support for the Goals for Charity campaign by wearing red wrist bands and spraying their hair red.

In a bid to boost the campaign at the end of the 2005/06 PSL season, Engen and Santos embarked on a Charity Golf Day, held at Parow Golf Club on 11 May, 2006. The day was supported by celebrities including Ashwell Prince, Edries Burton, Sebastian Bax, Carlo Scott and motor racing ace, Miguel Pasqualli which helped to propel the Goals for Charity Campaign."

Committed to demonstrating compassion for the community, Engen Santos endeavors to raise R1 million by 2010. To date, the campaign has raised R350 000 over two seasons, with this season's barometer currently boasting R 54 000. The aim for the 2006/7 PSL season is to raise R250 000.
